The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops requires that all dioceses perform periodic background checks on all clergy, employees, and volunteers. The Archdiocese of Boston requires that these forms be filled out annually.
Who must fill out a CORI Acknowledgment Form?
All clergy
Anyone paid by the parish/school, 18 or older
All volunteers who provide any kind of service to the parish/school, 18 or older
I need to fill out a CORI form. What do I bring with me to the CORI weekend?
If you received a CORI form by email, print out the form (double-sided preferred) and bring the filled-out form to the parish on December 16th or 17th, along with your driver’s license or another government-issued photo ID. After each Mass, a representative will review your form for accuracy, check your ID to make sure you are the person represented on the form, and then sign the document. You will be handed the most recent Code of Conduct, which you will be instructed to read, and you are then finished. If you did NOT receive a CORI form by mail or email, there will be blank forms available for you to fill out. It takes less than three minutes to fill out a CORI Acknowledgement Form.
I cannot make it to Mass that weekend. How do I get my CORI form processed?
To complete the CORI process outside the CORI weekend window, please stop by the Parish Center and have your CORI form processed by Liz or Caitlin.
Who do I talk to if I have questions or concerns about the CORI form and process?
Who must take Protecting God’s Children?
• All clergy
• Anyone paid by the parish, 18 or older
• Any volunteer, 18 or older, who provides service to the parish/school, regardless of whether they work directly with children or not
What if I have already taken Protecting God’s Children?
Those who have taken PGC in the past are strongly encouraged to take the newest version as it includes a lot of new information that will further help us defend against those who might want to harm our children. However, there is no requirement to repeat PGC at this time. Still, if you cannot remember the details from the workshop, please join us on December 18th.
